From 0ab16d2e9e90f3f2865bb46aa66168f987675dd5 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Callum Alpass Date: Fri, 25 Jul 2025 21:48:35 +1000 Subject: [PATCH] fix: Resolve timezone-based off-by-one bugs in calendar recurrence Replace format(date, 'yyyy-MM-dd') with formatUTCDateForCalendar(date) in TaskService.ts and helpers.ts to ensure consistent UTC-based date handling across different user timezones. This prevents weekly recurring tasks from appearing on incorrect days (e.g., Tuesday tasks showing on Monday dates). The fix addresses GitHub issue #237 where calendar recurrence was timezone-dependent, causing different behavior for users in different time zones. Added comprehensive test coverage for timezone scenarios and edge cases to prevent regression. --- src/services/TaskService.ts | 4 +- src/utils/helpers.ts | 4 +- ...calendar-recurrence-off-by-one-bug.test.ts | 334 +++++++++++++++ ...prehensive-timezone-recurrence-bug.test.ts | 349 +++++++++++++++ ...first-day-week-calendar-off-by-one.test.ts | 264 ++++++++++++ ...2025-monday-tuesday-off-by-one-bug.test.ts | 259 +++++++++++ ...off-by-one-completion-timezone-bug.test.ts | 402 ++++++++++++++++++ ...edit-modal-calendar-off-by-one-bug.test.ts | 284 +++++++++++++ .../unified-root-cause-analysis.test.ts | 362 ++++++++++++++++ 9 files changed, 2258 insertions(+), 4 deletions(-) create mode 100644 tests/unit/issues/calendar-recurrence-off-by-one-bug.test.ts create mode 100644 tests/unit/issues/comprehensive-timezone-recurrence-bug.test.ts create mode 100644 tests/unit/issues/first-day-week-calendar-off-by-one.test.ts create mode 100644 tests/unit/issues/july-2025-monday-tuesday-off-by-one-bug.test.ts create mode 100644 tests/unit/issues/off-by-one-completion-timezone-bug.test.ts create mode 100644 tests/unit/issues/task-edit-modal-calendar-off-by-one-bug.test.ts create mode 100644 tests/unit/issues/unified-root-cause-analysis.test.ts diff --git a/src/services/TaskService.ts b/src/services/TaskService.ts index 8d344f28..0867beab 100644 --- a/src/services/TaskService.ts +++ b/src/services/TaskService.ts @@ -3,7 +3,7 @@ import { format } from 'date-fns';
